Spa construction and remodeling, from first sketch to a lit, running spa
A spa is only as good as its position and its groundwork. We plan where it sits, prepare the site, run the plumbing and power, and bring older spas up to date with new lighting and waterfalls.
Chapter 01
Where the spa sits decides how often it gets used
A spa works when it is in the right place, and that is settled before any ground is broken. The design consultation looks at where the spa sits relative to the pool and to the house: raised at the end of the pool, set beside the terrace, or standing on its own behind a screen of plantings. We walk the yard with you and talk through sun, views and the path from the back door.
Gunite or vinyl is part of that conversation too, since both are offered and the choice shapes the edge, the finish and how the spa meets the pool coping. Call (631) 599-4175 and we will book a free inspection at your property, whether it is in Shelter Island, Sag Harbor, Southampton or East Hampton.

Grading, drainage and power before the spa arrives
Once the plan is agreed, site preparation begins. Grading sets the spa on level, stable ground. Drainage is worked out so that overflow and rain running off the terrace have somewhere sensible to go rather than toward the foundation. Electrical runs are planned at this stage too, because a spa needs its own supply and the trenches are far easier to cut before the stone goes down.
Customization and installation follow. Plumbing is laid to the pump, filter and heater, the electrical is connected, and the shell takes its final form, whether that is a raised spa spilling into the pool or a unit set into the deck. Coping and tile are chosen to match the pool so the two read as one design.
Chapter 03
Bringing an older spa up to date, then keeping it that way
An older spa can be refreshed without starting over. A remodel can bring in upgraded technology, custom lighting and waterfalls, along with fresh tile and coping wherever the surround has worn. A spa that has sat dark and plain for years can become the lit centerpiece of the yard by evening.
The work does not end at the last bit of tile. Blue Pools & Spa also handles ongoing spa maintenance, so the crew that built or remodeled it can keep the water balanced and the equipment running. Ask about financing through HFS Home Improvement Loans when you book, and call (631) 599-4175 to set up the inspection two days ahead.
